The shipyard

Born on the Atlantic. Built in Les Sables d’Olonne. Every Privilège is shaped by French craftsmanship, offshore culture and the attention of teams who know each yacht by heart. Every Privilège begins in Les Sables d’Olonne, on France’s Atlantic coast. This is more than the place where our catamarans are built. It is a maritime territory shaped by generations of sailors, boatbuilders and craftsmen — a place where building yachts capable of crossing oceans has a very tangible meaning.

Since 1985, Privilège has grown here while remaining true to its original purpose: building bluewater catamarans for owners who intend to go far.

Les Sables d’Olonne has always lived facing the ocean. Known internationally as the home of the Vendée Globe, the town has developed a deep ecosystem of naval architecture, composite construction, engineering, sailing and marine expertise. For Privilège Marine, being established here means being surrounded by people who understand what offshore sailing really demands. The Atlantic is not simply our backdrop. It has influenced our culture of yacht building: robustness, safety, reliability and confidence at sea are considered from the very beginning of every project.

Building here influences the way we think about yachts.

Crafted, not mass-produced.

Privilège does not approach yacht building as mass production.

The number of yachts built each year remains deliberately limited, allowing our teams to maintain close control over construction and to give each project the attention required by its owner’s specification.

Behind every hull are composite specialists, carpenters, electricians, plumbers, mechanics, painters, technicians and finishers.

Much of that work will never be immediately visible. A carefully routed cable. An accessible technical system. A precisely adjusted piece of joinery. A fitting installed where it can still be reached years later.

Their value appears at sea.

One shipyard. Many areas of expertise.

The organisation of our facilities reflects the sequence of yacht building itself. From one production area to another, each Privilège progresses through a chain of specialised expertise before reaching the Atlantic.

01. Composite construction

Hulls and structural elements begin to take shape through carefully controlled composite processes.

02. Assembly & integration

Structures come together while electrical, plumbing, mechanical and navigation systems are progressively integrated.

03. Joinery & interiors

Furniture and interior elements are prepared, adjusted and installed by our teams.

04. Finishing & control

Details are checked, adjusted and refined before the yacht leaves the production buildings.

05. Sea trials and delivery

Systems are commissioned and the yacht is tested before handover.

Personalisation begins inside the shipyard.

No two ownership projects are exactly alike. The shipyard must therefore adapt the yacht to the project — not the project to a predefined yacht. Circumnavigation, Mediterranean cruising, family sailing, crewed operation or extended life aboard all lead to different priorities. Energy, water, storage, access, sail handling and onboard systems are integrated around the intended programme. Layouts, joinery, materials and finishes are developed as part of one coherent project, yours.

There is a particular moment in the life of every Privilège when months of work become something entirely different. The yacht leaves the production building. The mast is stepped. Systems come to life. The teams complete their final checks. And, for the first time, the catamaran meets the Atlantic. For our teams, it is the culmination of hundreds of decisions, thousands of hours of work and the contribution of many different crafts.

For the owner, it is the beginning.

Everything we do in Les Sables d’Olonne has one purpose: to build the yacht that will take you beyond them.
